When we envision the music of the
50's, for most of us it was a group of guys standing on some street corner
harmonizing. The songs we sang typified a kind of feeling, an
experience of what those moments were about.
Earl Lewis,
"Mr. Excitement", and his fabulous Channels, take us all the
way back and make it happen again. It was not only their songs that
made them famous, but the desire of every kid on every street corner to
sing those songs and sound just like them.
East Lewis
and the Channels are making appearances in all major oldie
shows, private clubs and specialty affairs. They have become one of
the more popular groups in the oldies circuit.
Performances include Radio City
Music Hall, New York Paramount, Atlantic City, Westbury Music Fair, Nassau
Coliseum, The Village Gate, Teh Beacon Theatre, Garden State Arts Center,
The Apollo Theatre, The Meadowlands Arena, Catskills, Poconos,
Universities, Theme Parks and Clubs all over the conntry as well as
corporate and private affairs. |

Spanning from the late 1950's into
2000 and beyond The Earls have been pleasing audiences with their
flawless harmonies, ceaseless vitality and endearing dedication to their
fans. Larry Chance & The Earls
represent the music that helped to define Rock n Roll. The original
doo-wop era that put the street-corner society onto the national charts.
Born in South Philadephia, Larry
attended school witht he likes of Fabian, Frankie Avalon and a cuddly guy
named Ernest Evans, who became a lot better known when he changed his name
to Chubby Checker. When his family moved to the Bronx, Larry
realized that vocal groups were to be found on almost every street corner,
so he developed one of his own in 1957 with five friends from his school.
It was later on the disc jockey Murray the "K" gave The Earls their
first major break. As a result of overwhelming phone-in votes on
Murray's contests, The Earl's single Life is But A Dream
drowned the competition and went on to be a smash. It was followed
by Remember Then and enough other super hits to give The
Earls FOUR songs on CBS-FM's "500 greatest records of all time".

From the group of youngsters
singing against each other on the streets of New York's East Side and
Harlem, emerged The Harptones formed in
1953.
The
Harptones ahve been able to earn universal acceptance and
respect of the fans, critics, and their perrs alike, without the benefit
of a significant charted hit or degree of exposure afforder many of their
contemporaries.
Sunday Kind of Love,
their fist recording, played on WMCA in New York City in 1954 by Hal
Jackson, was an overnight hit.
Life Is But A Dream, That's
The Way It Goes, My Memories Of You, Three Wishes, So Good So Fine,
(all written by Raoul J. Cita) are some of the group's recordings
that are still requested whenever they appear.
Such standards as The Shrine
Of St Cecilia, The Masquerade Is Over, Since I Fell For You, Laughing On
The Outside, and What will I Tell My Heart, are also
requested by the followers of the Harptone, and received with standing
